HelpBC

HelpBC is our proprietary community resource platform, owned and operated by Lifesaver Technology Services Inc. The platform unifies verified social-service listings — food support, housing, health, crisis support, and more — across British Columbia. The first live deployment serves the Central Okanagan; we're rolling out additional BC metros under the same platform.

The Challenge

Community-service information across BC is fragmented region by region, scattered across dozens of websites and outdated PDFs. When someone is in crisis they don't have time to Google 15 organizations, and the data they do find is often months out of date. Each region also needs local ownership of its listings, partnerships, and verification — something no general-purpose directory provides.

Our Solution

A purpose-built platform with a shared backbone for listings, search, mapping, accessibility, and an automated verification pipeline that re-checks data on an ongoing cadence — combined with per-region partner workflows so each metro keeps local control of its data. Public-facing features include real-time open/closed status, interactive maps, offline support, multilingual access, and a Quick Exit safety feature for users in unsafe situations. The platform was built and is operated by Lifesaver; the first region (the Central Okanagan) launched pro bono as part of our annual Community Build Program.
